A programmable thermostat will help conserve energy and save you money. They can be programmed to raise or lower the temperature when you are not at home. During the winter they can save about 3% of your heating cost for every degree you lower your thermostat. During the summer you can trim cost up to 4% for every degree you raise your thermostat. All you have to do is know your family’s schedule, then follow the programming instructions and start saving money on your energy bill.

Programming the thermostat is easy to do. Start by determining when you wake up, when you leave the house, the time you come home, the time you go to bed and temperature you want each of those times. Most peoples schedules are different on the weekends, program those days different than during the week. If your schedule changes at any time simply change the program.
